Course Overview

This intensive workshop-based module focuses on the practical application of musculoskeletal ultrasound in the sports medicine setting. Participants will develop skills in dynamic scanning of tendons, ligaments, and muscles, with emphasis on the shoulder, knee, ankle, and elbow — the most commonly injured structures in athletic populations.

The course covers real-time dynamic assessment techniques, comparison with the contralateral side, and the recognition of acute and chronic injury patterns. An afternoon session is dedicated to ultrasound-guided intervention techniques including aspiration, barbotage, and injection guidance.

Learning Outcomes

  • Perform dynamic ultrasound assessment of major tendons and ligaments in sports injuries
  • Identify acute and chronic tendinopathy patterns using greyscale and Doppler
  • Assess rotator cuff integrity including full and partial thickness tears
  • Evaluate knee ligaments, menisci, and patellar tendon in the sports context
  • Perform ankle and Achilles tendon assessment using dynamic techniques
  • Provide ultrasound guidance for aspiration, injection, and barbotage procedures
